I dont believe hijab is a tool of oppression but a tool fabricated by the Islamists in the mid 20th century as a response to the massive unveiling of women during & AFTER western imperialism, by creating a new type of veil (the 1 that we know today) meant to CONTROL society (1)

A thought-provoking analysis. Do you have references to back it up? Reason I ask is I recall
@YasMohammedxx once discussing Nasser of Egypt struggling against Islamists push to cover women but at the same time he was anti western imperialism. A paradox? Thank you1 reply 0 retweets 1 like -

I actually made a whole research ab it & I do have references. It started in Egypt Jordan & Syrian universities and at first they did have a hard time pushing their Islamist agenda. The group slowly became popular after the ramadan/yom kippur war they got more and more followers.

I cans send you my reference list but it's mostly in french and the research wasn't specifically about that subject but I touched it. I was doing a research on rites of passage in islam and the veiling of young girls.

This is a familiar trajectory for Egypt, but not for Saudi. It’s one of many reasons why the hijab is as a tool used to oppress women, but not the only one.
