At 21 I was wearing niqab and married to an Al Qaeda agent and pregnant with my daughter. I was almost 30 before I finally denounced Islam.
And re your Q, yes, it’s still a tool for subjugation-tho women are free choose to partake in their own subjugation. #HijabIsRapeCulture

Glad u got to where u wanted. Wouldn't be better to argue how the Koran (which scholars argue is misread) "destroys rape culture because it commands men to reform themselves first & exclusively"? "When addressing hijab,the Quran does not address women first. It addresses men 1st"
