No. It’s not weird. Even though there’s no govt forcing girls in the West, their families and communities still force them. I was one of many women threatened w death. Girls and women are harassed, beaten and killed for removing their hijabs. Look up Aqsa Parvez and Dina Tokio.https://twitter.com/DarlaTheDarling/status/1114158356044738560 …

PS: Niqab and Burka are the same thing-in two different languages. You really should do your homework on this topic if you’re going to argue about it publicly.

In the west, some women are still forced to wear hijab by their father or brother. Sometimes they even beat up their sisters!

Yes, we need to fight for this, unfortunately we are being forced to wear it, and We are all beaten by our family if we demand that we not wear it ,and we are sentenced to prison within the control of others

Is this why I see women wearing them more now in the US? I rarely saw women in the hijab in the 1990s, now it seems much more common. And it's not like there wasn't a significant population of Muslims in our area back then.

In that case the anti hijab activism may prove relatively ineffective. How is the movement going to help the girls fearing their families?

A girl I know from Preston is basically an outcast in her own home just because she doesn't wear hijab, she practices Islam and prays everyday yet her mother abuses her for following a western lifestyle.
