So, I’m happy for my tax dollars to go to helping ppl who need to turn to the govt for support. If that means I’m a pro bigger govt socialist, so be it. The label is irrelevant, as long as ppl around me aren’t left suffering needlessly

Anyway, what's so bad about democratic socialism? Most countries have major socialist or social-democratic parties.

Americans have really demonized it to the point that they shoot themselves in the foot sometimes. An Uber driver and I once argued over Universal healthcare (which he was disgusted w because ‘socialism’) I mean...what? How is that ever a bad thing?
