Because there’s no ‘religious rights’ to hide behind, the protesters would be recognized as hateful immediately. This is no different. This is unabashed hate of a minority group. Religiously sanctioned or not—that is irrelevant.
It’s why we react correctly when white supremacists walk the streets chanting hate for Jews, but do not react at all when Muslims do the same. One group’s bigotry gets protected under religious freedom and the other isn’t. Ridiculous.

I’m shocked at the complete silence on this on my FB feed. None of my fellow UK mums are posting angrily about this. In a fucking second they would’ve if the ppl protesting weren’t Muslims. There were posts when the Darwin play was cancelled.
Some years ago a guy made a YouTube video where he read verses from the Qur’an where he swapped “Muslims” into the place of all the hated groups—Jews, women, gays, Christians, atheists—on the other. It was one of the first videos that Google banned from search results.
