This is one (of many) reasons why laws need to be more clear that religious rights can never supersede human rights Hate is hate-even if it’s divinely ordained If there were parents protesting the inclusivity of Muslims, this would be considered a hate crime in a heartbeat.https://twitter.com/_HelenDale/status/1112066475114852353 …

Because Roxanne Gay is here I have been googling her handle and seeing people saying the most absurd things about Australia. I’m replying to people who called foot stomping and booing ‘despair’. And I saw Roxanne on TV discussing racism, which is getting crazy replies.

I think I'm inclined to agree, Yasmine. You make a very good point! Do you believe that circumcision of infants follows this same principle? That it's an overstepping of religious rights onto human rights?

I’m shocked at the complete silence on this on my FB feed. None of my fellow UK mums are posting angrily about this. In a fucking second they would’ve if the ppl protesting weren’t Muslims. There were posts when the Darwin play was cancelled.

Some years ago a guy made a YouTube video where he read verses from the Qur’an where he swapped “Muslims” into the place of all the hated groups—Jews, women, gays, Christians, atheists—on the other. It was one of the first videos that Google banned from search results.
