You didn't directly suggest silence, but silence is the result when you abstain from condemning these atrocities for fear of imposing western standards on minorities. Saudi & Iranian activists are imprisoned & brutalised for speaking up, which means that they're silenced.

Excuse you? I did not abstain from condemnation. My god.

Sarcastically saying "does the sun shine? Of course it's misogynystic" & refusing to address it any further doesn't qualify as condemnation. Particularly when you look at the emotion you put into issues such as sexual assault, bodily autonomy etc. You go into depth about it.

We are talking about these issues day & night & getting no support from well known feminists such as yourself. It's inexcusable that you suggested that it's presumptuous to assume that a westerner knows how these women want to live. Of course they want freedom!

It's the bigotry of low expectations when you question whether other cultures want the same standards of equality as westerners do. Why wouldn't they? There are people fighting & suffering for this cause but it's considered too risky for western feminists to get involved.

And just so you know, I've admired your work for a long time & absolutely have no interest in "misrepresenting you to support my view" b/c I came out of yesterday's event feeling gutted. I didn't want to feel alienated from a movement that I'd become so invested in.

I'm sure you won't believe me, but I'm devastated about this. Please speak to ex-Muslim women to understand our perception of this issue. We are not being represented by intersectional feminism b/c we're the wrong kind of victim & it's left us out in the cold.

The last thing I'll say
@rgay is that I don't want further division. I want us to progress as a united front. If you can see any value in what I'm saying, please speak to@ConfessionsExMu. This is her area of expertise & the best person to explain our position.10 replies 7 retweets 128 likes -
She blocked me, Omayma. That should give you an indication of how interested she is in our position. If she does one day realize that ALL women across the planet are equally human and that we are ALL equally deserving of human rights, then she knows where to find me.

I was blocked days ago too for pointing out that racism is far worse in some countries and supported by religion and tribalism. I now have a deeper understanding at why she was so outraged. This is anathema to her narrative. I will continue to listen to my sisters esp Yas!
