A tweet in support of Nasrin today can‘t undo the damage you’ve caused. It can’t undo the betrayal women fighting for their basic rights have felt. It can’t undo your tweet saying Sharia ‘sounds nice’
It’s hard to trust that you really support women who want to be #FreeFromHijab

#Feminists in the west — really think about this and let this sink in!!!! I love you, Yasmine for being a truth-teller!

It’s dispiriting that women (both Muslim and non Muslim) in the west are fetishising the hijab and using it as a prop to promote ‘freedom of expression’, while women in the east are trying to escape the oppression that it represents.
-
Yeah, I generally don't want to tell other ppl what they should wear or not wear, but the hijab to me seriously represents an oppression of women based on ancient religious practices beliefs. I simply don't see it as an expression of liberation for women.

Linda is quite sure of her end goal. It is the
@womenmarch folks who will be surprised if it comes to pass. -
She is sure of her end goal. So is MB.

blaming Linda Sarsour instead of the Saudi officers is the wrong take in this. you are throwing under the bus women who wear the hijab as a religious choice not in observance of a legal/social obligation. we should fight on both fronts: freedom to wear it AND not to wear it

-
If a gal “wants” to wear it she should understand why she is doing so. This goes for any girl or woman of any age or race or religion; be it a hijab or niquab or sheitel or habit.
