I will never forgot the night I comforted a young, gay, Muslim who had been assaulted by life-long friends and cousins after they had found out he was gay after they had seen him in a different part of the city with a man. Despite his horrific injuries and the pain 1/2

they must have caused. His true pain was knowing that night, he could never go back to his family and his home he had always known. I’ve never seen such a scared human. How can anyone do this to their family? Their blood? - I never found out what happened to this young man
