So, in conclusion, hijab is a tool of rape culture That fact might be uncomfortable, ppl might be offended, but the fact remains It’s victim blaming: putting the onus on the girl vs the attacker It’s slut-shaming: hijabis are clean vs dirty non-hijabis #HijabIsRapeCulture🧕pic.twitter.com/1yFJQPeY32

I think it’s important not to wag a finger at individual hijabis as they are coerced into this system from a young age. We can address the problem w the structure while recognizing that the ppl stuck in it, and even perpetuating it, are just following along like a school of fish.

I knew the onus was on me to cover to ‘protect’ myself. Thats what made the assaults I endured even more shameful-I felt it was my fault. Being stuck in that system is bad enough without ppl blaming you for being a part of it. Please criticize the system, not the individual women

Imagine being a Western woman and perpetuating this rape culture, supporting a system that sees you as dirty and fair game....because you don’t want anyone to think you’re racist.

All of us women in Iran are fighting every day with the dictatorship of the Islamic Republic. The violation of women's rights by the Islamic Republic is absolutely clear. Only this is the world that does not see it. #HijabIsRapeCulturehttps://twitter.com/samar19906/status/1101837615702179840?s=21 …

A humble question - How do women covering themselves completely get their daily dose of vitamin D from sun? I do not mean any offence to anyone.

The problem is that there is alot of women who like the hijab. And I believe it is their right to do whatever they want. Only when I hear a man telling me about what the man wants then I would say something. I would never say anything to a woman who wants her rights.

They do if that’s all they’ve known. If you were made to wear it since you could walk would you not prefer that comfort zone? Where is then the real choice? And what happens if you take it off in some countries?

The hijab does not empower women. The hijab menpowers women. This is unjust.
