I also fight for the end of laws that force a woman to wear a hijab. But somehow, some people who insist their concern is Muslim women’s agency lose all interest when it comes to protecting Muslim women’s right to wear it,per their free choice, & call my beliefs “rape culture”.https://twitter.com/YasMohammedxx/status/1101883897363591168 …

1)It was a MUSLIM woman that made the first spot-on analogy to rape culture,
@AsraNomani 2)How Islamophobic of you to fight against hijab..I guess that means you always, always, always hate Muslims? 3)It was an ignorant comment aimed to stifle criticism of Islam-& it won’t work11 replies 43 retweets 192 likes -

Not sure how you can reconcile the sub-primary-school comeback in point 2 and your attack in point 3.

And how will you reconcile #1? Hijab IS rape culture and you know it. It is both victim-blaming & slut-shaming. Women wear hijab to be undesirable so they won’t be raped-that’s victim blaming. Women who cover are considered good and pure vs women who don’t-that is slut shaming.pic.twitter.com/UDYli4IXPK

Unless you apply the same logic to menonites, nuns, the amish, and the like, you arent for freedom, you are for your version of it.

The same logic is applied to them. I’m against all of it. I’m especially against it in Muslim communities because that’s my community/experience and because, unlike your examples, women are currently being beaten, attacked w acid, imprisoned and killed for not wearing hijab.

Also, women are being attacked in my examples. Woman are attacked in every extremist part of a religion because its about power.https://www.apnews.com/93806f1783f34ea4b8e9c32ed59cdc06 …

Yes, and it’s all deplorable and it all must be addressed. Like I said, I focus on my own community.

Moreover, it is entirely acceptable to deride the oppression in these previous examples. Only Islam escapes criticism on the left & it is taboo to note your concerns publicly. As such, there is far greater urgency to address your community given the alarming scope of the problem.
