Yasmine, Is it true that women in the Middle East didn’t always wear the vail? I have friends from Iran and Egypt that say they have seen pictures of their Moms in western dress in public in their birth countries.

It’s currently happening in countries like Malaysia and Indonesia...you can see this erasure of their cultural clothing happening in real-time

Wow! OK... how did we get from that, to women covered in veils? BTW... it wasn’t until recently that it was explained to me that women wear western clothing under their outer garment. Most westerners are under the impression that it’s robes, like in biblical times.
