      When I lived in the Middle East, if I passed close by an older woman in the mall or something, she’d curse me out in Arabic.       Am getting the biggest dirty looks from these two Muslim aunties that are sitting across from me on the train. They keep staring at my short skirt and shaking their heads. It's 40C today. I ain't gonna risk heatstroke for any god.

      Yasmine, Is it true that women in the Middle East didn’t always wear the vail? I have friends from Iran and Egypt that say they have seen pictures of their Moms in western dress in public in their birth countries.

      Yes, that’s true. Islam shrouds the previous cultures. If you google pics from 60s and 70s in Egypt Iran Afghanistan Libya...you name it..the women (usually educated, from the big cities) are dressing as they please.
