France is a country where people do generally have a choice about what they wear. I’m against women being compelled to wear the hijab. I’m against women being compelled not to wear it. Basically, I’m against women being compelled. Hope that’s clear enough.

It’s like you literally can’t hear me. I’m not defending the hijab. I am defending women. But it’s clear that you’d rather argue with what you think I’ve said, rather than taking the time to understand what I’m actually saying.

If people in France successfully ban hijabs for running or swimming, they're not liberating Muslim women from the hijab. They're preventing women who wear hijabs from being able to choose to run or swim.
