Mob justice is never acceptable. I hope my Indian brethren watching choose to praise the troops’ behaviour instead of blaming all Pakistanis for this attempted lynching.Peace

Perhaps I’m just cynical, but I suspect the only reason they’re protecting him is because they can only use him as leverage if he’s alive.
Additionally, if he was killed, they know there'd be hell to pay.

All PoWs are leverage. Depends what for. If it’s to secure a lasting peace & end war, in exchange for their release, that’s ok.

That and also the fact, that if he was murdered by the mob, the Indian government would come under a lot more pressure than it is already under to escalate the situation, which would be unlikely to be in Pakistan's favour.
Geneva convention requires them to do so.
