As much as I agree with the sentiment you express here, I disagree with the idea of stripping a person of citizenship or denying them return home. Detain and deprogram / deradicalize them, and watch them, but the state cannot disavow its citizens, no matter how distasteful.
The lady wanting to come back to the U.K. had dual nationality, that's how the U.K. was able to revoke her citizenship.
If it involves breaking treaty commitments, I hope they don't. I don't mind seeing these ex-ISIS types jailed, for life if appropriate, but we shouldn't break laws and treaties because we're supposed to be the fucking good guys.
Agree. I'm really disappointed at the Home Office's decision and suspect it's merely to suit the shouty majority here.
I think in order for us to show that we are able to rise above the ideology that helped to lure this person over to a war zone, we have to have a road to redemption. Especially if they do have children. We should make it incredibly hard, sure, but possible.
