“They’re constantly holding these two contradictions. Here’s another one: women’s rights and support of the hijab. I mean, what’s going on there? How do you do that?”

I want someone w influence to speak up to counter the noise on the other side. Miley Cyrus,Alicia Keys, Ellen Degeneras etc etc have all spoken up in support of the hijab. They’ve betrayed women while calling themselves feminists, essentially. We need big, loud allies on our side

Not fair. Many have.

List them for me. Maybe I missed it. I saw Miley Cyrus, Ellen Degeneras, Alicia Keys all supporting hijab. They influence all these corps now supporting it too. I have never seen any western women at their level of influence speak up against it or in support of women fighting.

I totally support and speak out constantly. I have lived in India, West Malaysia and many years in Egypt. In the latter- mid 1980's- I did long term voluntary work in a "clinic" run in a Shubra slum area for women....every single one had suffered fgm. It broke me heart .

Not well known, but they deserve their freedom and I support their cause. You may be waiting a while for a blue check mark woman from the west to throw in support, many are too worried it will affect their bank account.
