This is such a thorny issue, and there seems to be great pleasure (from all political quarters) in outrage. That said, in righting past wrongs, we will NEVER move forward if we do not reckon with what came before. Some just want the conversation to be over & nothing to change.
I’m elated to see the conversation happening, but I’m elated because it means change..so I get frustrated when there are ppl who stand in the way of celebrating progress. Same w women’s issues. We have to simultaneously acknowledge the past/present failures and celebrate the wins

I’ve had ppl tell me once a jihadi wife always a jihadi wife..you can’t be trusted. Those ppl were either far-right or far-left. Most rational ppl, not possessed by their ideology, recognize that humans are capable of significant change for the better-and that’s to be celebrated.

Also change and reckoning are two very different things. One is possible, the other is not. We can change moving forward, but there’s no pound of flesh that will right past wrongs. There’s too many of them. And besides, that’s collective blame-the exact mistake that Neeson did!
