All the simple things and freedoms we take for granted in the west, people in some parts of the world take great pleasure in experiencing for the first time.
I was born and raised in Canada. It’s not about geography-it’s about religion. A religion that’s obsessed w virginity.
I was speaking in general. I can relate to all of that as I remember immigrating to Canada at 14.
In Afghanistan everyday girls are divorced,killed and their lives ruined on their wedding night because their private parts didn’t leak blood during sex ( I feel disgusted saying this even!) So they are assumed to be non-virgins and they are either killed, divorced and abused.
Though more than religion, I know it’s mainly based on culture actually. But still Islam is strongly used as a reason too in such countries.
