Which state threatens you if you wear it.
I don’t think it is that simple. People are the threat everywhere no matter what you do.
The threat of the leviathan (State) is more pernicious/absolute than any set of individuals - And Islamists want control of the state to impart *Their* view of Islam on the population. Where they do not have state control, they enforce societal pressure to keep women covered.
Women did not wear enforced Hijabs/Niqabs all over the Islamic world until Said Qutb and his cronies began propagating it across the Muslim world.
That was a poll they took amongst themselves- If you wanna talk about the pressures of the Hijab - speak to @ConfessionsExMu @saerahwrites @Asmi1121 @khaybar628 @faisalalmutar @Claire_Voltaire - They can give enough horror stories to last a life time.
I have seen what has been to done to some woman who have removed their hijab. It is awful. But like I said, my friends want to wear it. They feel safer wearing it and they feel modest.
Do they wear makeup? Or Western / fashionable clothes? High heels? If it was truly about modesty, then they wouldn't do any of the above. But the hijab has become a Muslim identity thing now, and a measure of how 'pious' a woman is, and THAT'S why it's worn.
The woman I know do not wear those things. I do hurt for those who are forced. It should be a choice.
If you hurt for them then maybe don’t support the tool of misogyny that oppressed them
I wear it once a year for those who make a choice to wear it and are still spit on, beaten, and mocked on the streets of America where you are supposed to be free.
Yes, that is terrible. Thankfully we have laws to protect those women...unlike in countries where the laws are the opposite -they jail women for not wearing it. Women are also abused and even killed for not wearing it. One of these is the greater evil.
