Sadly, the first. But with your #nohijabday movement, that'll hopefully start changing. Don't ever stop what you do, Yas. Can I call you, Yas? Haha. Keep up all the good work you do to empower and enlighten.

The issue is this. Every woman that chooses this, is held up as an example to others who don’t choose it. They are shamed & considered slutty & not pious enough (for their choice of not wearing one). So it’s not an even playing field. Your choice, negatively affects other women!

If it was meant as a good thing there'd be an option for men to wear it as well.

Saying the hijab is empowering is an absolute misnomer. How can anyone be empowered when they wear something that makes them essentially invisible?

Certainly not the one who thinks it's dehumanizing. In Islam, you can't speak up or question anything at all, you are supposed to follow blindly or suffer grave consequences. It's fear & intimidation. BUT KNOWLEDGE IS POWER! We have a choice not to live that way.
