U do not know all of Islam to make such a broad statement. American women are abused in lots of ways by American men. The issue is not Islam. It is men. It is patriarchy and how men muse use their physical and spiritual power. Also I am not Islamic!
The men and the women are both following Islam. Islam is a patriarchal religion. Yes, misogyny happens everywhere, but when the topic is hijab, you cannot divorce Islam from that equation.

Not my point. Oppression u will find it in all organized religion. Patriarchy broadens the discussion and hits at the root. The covering struggle doesn’t get to the root but is a branch to the much larger issue.

Of course not but covering will not stop what I see as a large issue of physical and psychological abuse. I look at the videos of the confrontations and the men have no qualms with physically and verbally abusing the women. No problems with invading their physical space. Not ok!

So I am only suggestion a broader vision. Encouraging that to use up front tactics in this is I hope includes you ladies have a broader discussion about male violence that comes with the struggle. I am concerned about the women and the violence many will face.

Im sorry but its not Islam that is at fault - its the interpretation that falls short! There is nothing in Islam that degrades women or condones violence or abuse. When any religion is subjected to politics this is what happens. Its all in the manipulated interpretation. Period.
