How many countries in the west are you taking into account with that? Also, using the law as a direct insinuation of how well-off women are in that country isnt such a great idea: the west sees a lot of overt sexism despite the law giving women and men an equal status as you say.
I’m not sure how I got caught in this, but a lot of what you’re saying is so wrong it’s making my head hurt. Please don’t speak about things that you don’t understand. My mother was a second wife. As was my sister. It is practiced REGULARLY. Stop excusing vile misogyny.

Also, what are you talking about treated the same in Christianity? In 15 Islamic countries you can be killed for being gay. What Christian theocracies do that? Again, stop making excuses for vile homophobia. Just stop talking until you’ve done at least the most cursory research.

I'm not excusing homophobia, I'm surprised you got that at all from this. Conversion therapy is common in both Christianity and Islam and its disgusting. I'm not advocating for Islam either, but hating Muslims entirely is completely beside the point.

Nobody is excusing misogyny, and as someone living in a Muslim country I have seen an equal amount of women not willing to go ahead with this and many women who have mentioned they are. Hating all people of a religion based on extreme practices by a few is quite bad.
