The Thai authorities also have an abysmal human rights record. They are always more interested in saving face and upholding the 'sanook'/smiling Kingdom facade than actually protecting civil liberties. We need to be patient and see if they will really walk the talk.

Misleading headline. Thai official said they will still send her back. They cannot send her to third country. Please be aware. Until she is with refugee group, not Thai, Saudi or Kuwait, don't trust them.

The fact that a girl had to flee for her life in fear of her family shows what kind of thing fundamentalist Islam is. It reminds me of the people being held a gunpoint in Jonestown.

Great to see the world standing behind brave women who are defying great odds, taking great risks, and know they truly can write their own future.
