We loved freedom and hated censorship way more as a society then. Maybe the world was less complicated with a clearer idea of who was the good/bad guy.

I think it was pre this PC era that ignores judging actions based on values, right/wrong but instead judges all actions done by a brown person as good and all actions done by a white person as bad. That messed everything up.
