Interesting convo. I have a lot of respect for @Deeyah_Khan’s empathetic perspective re Jihadis and Nazis, and humans in general.
But there were a lot of times when I felt she was being hypocritical or at least being intellectually dishonest.

Also, she makes this unfair assumption that we talk about the hijab/niqab honor killings, violence etc because we want to paint Islam in a bad light NOT because we actually care about human suffering. Interesting assumption considering she did a doc on honor killings in Islam.

Did she make that doc in order to make Muslims look bad? No. Of course not. I would not assume that malicious intent from her. I recognize her motives. Sad that she’s happy to assume that intent about us though, and to assume the worst motives.pic.twitter.com/UVdbcHns7L

At least she couldn’t say your problem is that you just don’t know enough Muslims like she did with Sam.

I did find it so condescending when she said I’ll invite you to a dinner so you can meet nice Muslims. Ffs. Is Sam running around saying there are no nice Muslims? He is addressing an extremism problem, so when he does, he talks about the problematic Muslims naturally!
