Interesting convo. I have a lot of respect for @Deeyah_Khan’s empathetic perspective re Jihadis and Nazis, and humans in general.
But there were a lot of times when I felt she was being hypocritical or at least being intellectually dishonest.

Having said all that, I’m pretty sure that if we had a conversation, we’d probably agree on more than we disagree on. And if not, at least it would be civil and pleasant. I have a lot of respect and gratitude for the work she does in general.

Also, she makes this unfair assumption that we talk about the hijab/niqab honor killings, violence etc because we want to paint Islam in a bad light NOT because we actually care about human suffering. Interesting assumption considering she did a doc on honor killings in Islam.

Did she make that doc in order to make Muslims look bad? No. Of course not. I would not assume that malicious intent from her. I recognize her motives. Sad that she’s happy to assume that intent about us though, and to assume the worst motives.pic.twitter.com/UVdbcHns7L
