          I think Americans just don't understand why women make that choice because so many Americans don't even KNOW a Muslim person. We threw off our head coverings many many decades ago, so we have forgotten why they were used.

          hijab is not oppressive to the Jewish women who invented it. We keep our beauty under wraps and it is above our head, a reminder of Who Else is above us. Same reason our Men wear reminders on their heads, above them. When Muslim men misinterpret both headcoverings is a problem
