I think you are both saying the same thing in different words. "evolve past" = "alternative". As an atheist, I've been shocked by those that leave religion just to replace it with an even LESS consistent blind faith. The need for blind faith is stronger than I thought.

And actually, just to correct an inaccuracy: those that leave a blind faith like religion don't seem to seek another, but those that aren't born into blind religious faith do seems to seek an alternative. It's troubling, and not what I expected.

That’s a good point. Those of us who have escaped that proverbial frying pan are usually very careful to avoid all fires.
