I think you are both saying the same thing in different words. "evolve past" = "alternative".
As an atheist, I've been shocked by those that leave religion just to replace it with an even LESS consistent blind faith. The need for blind faith is stronger than I thought.

And actually, just to correct an inaccuracy: those that leave a blind faith like religion don't seem to seek another, but those that aren't born into blind religious faith do seems to seek an alternative. It's troubling, and not what I expected.

Hate to put a dampner down --- we've been here for a couple of seconds max -- we've not done very well managing the only known living planet ( think of this as original sin -- metaphore )

Evolution doesn't work well on the hundreds/thousands of years scale and selection bias makes you forget the other option - going extinct.

Get where? Where precisely do you expect humanity to go? To be? Utopia? We cannot, we do not 'need' to evolve in a certain way. It isn't up to us. Evolution is happening will happen without our guidance. Think for yourself. That is at the very least the first step.

We aren't doing that well as the planet's population has never been this high, it's forest cover this low, its biodiversity loss this quick and the threat of an impending epidemic this great as now. Rarely have so many people starved in spite of food productions being so huge.

Even worse, for the first time this year, humans have consumed more than they produced.
