#Algeria joins #Morocco, #Egypt #Malaysia #Syria and even #Qatar etc in restricting the niqab/burka.

Tldw: I think there should be no religious freedom afforded to the niqab/burka as it is a safety issue, and safety supersedes all. If no one else is allowed to cover their face in a bank/school etc, then niqabis aren’t allowed to either

It pains me to see people who live in western democratic countries defend clothing that symbolizes oppressive, archaic religious fundamentalism. They can say “her body, her choice”, but they ignore the indoctrination and threats that women in the Middle East go through.
