I don’t think anyone is suggesting that and even if some are (because of the fact that there is a judicial process) there’s no danger of that happening.
I’ve shared before that I was one (of millions) of women who finally had the courage to tell only to be dismissed as a liar. Case closed. That’s a problem. As a society we need to believe women, and all victims, when they come forward. Then, of course, investigate.

Again, totally agree that the way allegations have been handled in the past has failed genuine victims, but also struggle to see how police can presume the accused innocent whilst simultaneously being expected to presume them guilty by the accuser.

I think we both agree that any accusation of this nature should warrant full and proper investigation and that there have been failings to do so in the past. I think the absolutism in the language used is what ‘muddys the water’ slightly, but in principle I’m in full agreement.

I am a child sex abuse survivor. I expect that all reports of abuse or harassment regardless of the gender of the victim or perpetrator be taken seriously, investigated properly and vigorously prosecuted. But I dont need more or special consideration because I am a woman.

Yes please. As in ideological matters we should be devoted to truth seeking. Both belief and disbelief should be suspended. In ethical, reason based systems of law, both victims and the accused should enjoy the presumption of innocence. Lets extend it without regard to gender.
