There are, of cousrse, a LOT of good men in our community, please don’t misinterpret me....I’m just saying that being an atheist doesn’t mean that one is immune to sexism.

Though this is undoubtedly true, the inverse isn’t necessarily true.
The #atheist community is yet another boys club and-like all boys clubs-it is seeped in sexism.

I'd say: History is the history of the oppression of women. Women have been oppressed in all tribal/national/political/religious environments through the ages. Don't think religion is to blame. Perhaps it's through evolutionary development, based on male/female roles in primates.

I totally agree w that. Religion isn’t to blame, but it certainly facilitated the process. As well, it makes progress a lot moredifficult (a lot of the sexist laws in MENA are based on religious laws)

By equality, I don’t mean equivalence. Obviously men and women are different-and I’m glad we are-but I’m talking about equality in terms of respect/treatment.
