Her family demanded that she stay in the closet & her atheist boyfriend perform a religious marriage ceremony.
She found an Imam willing to perform the ceremony who was... you guessed it, an #exMuslim in the closet...

Heartbreaking. @exmuslimprophet and I talked about this yesterday. I wish I could convince closeted ExMuslims in the West of the FACT that living free is worth any cost. Theyre lucky to have the choice. Living a lie/double life takes such a toll on your psyche.

Those of us who feel free to talk, have a duty to do so. I hope those who are in free and open societies who are afraid to talk, come to the realization that if they start speaking it will make it easier for all those who are questioning and cannot be open

And they’ll make it easier for themselves too. Leading a double life is so dishonest and exhausting...you’re essentially choosing to torture yourself rather than deal w the alternative. But, in my experience and in the experience of most, the alternative is way less torturous.
