Do others feel this way? Do #ExMuslim Pakistanis or Somalis etc want to avoid their culture because it’s so intertwined w Islam?
Islam is a religion. Arab is a culture. They are two different things. That’s the whole point of my post

I live culture-less right now. It is just part of my decision to cut off anything that is or might be associated with Islam even though Tunisian culture is not too Islamic. My Hindu husband criticizes me harshly for losing those practices.
Now you can pick and choose whatever aspects of whatever culture you like! Ppl who come into our house are so confused 
We have such an eclectic mix of things from different cultures...we’re totally pro cultural appropriation!

@ConfessionsExMu I'm from Iraq and it used to be the same with me. I hated arabic, and arabic music and everything related to arabs.
But there's so much more than Islam in the Arab world amd it's history, and not to mention the millions of hidden ex-muslim and secularists living there.
To be honest, I suspect with non Arabs it is often much easier because they often had a much more prevalent pre Islamic history before. For Pakistanis/Bangladeshis, it's Indian/Hindu culture, for Iranians it's Persian/Zoroastrian and so on. With Arabs, separating it from (1)
