Do others feel this way? Do #ExMuslim Pakistanis or Somalis etc want to avoid their culture because it’s so intertwined w Islam?

One of my best friends is Lebanese. When we were teenagers his mom used to make us stuffed grape leaves. I can’t imagine how many hours she spent making them and we’d wolf them down in minutes. They were amazing!

I used to make those. Arabs put ground lamb/beef in them...the Greek ones are vegetarian (so not the same). And kibbeh. And tabouleh. All Lebanese food gives me PTSD now because of all the hours spent making it.

Hummus is too gritty, like getting sand in your mouth with a flavor added.. I think people just like feeling " travelled" and saying hummus!

Never stop eating hummus! Same with falafels! Chickpeas are the greatest bridge between Arabic and Jewish cultures!

Yes, the food is great, when I worked for Saudi Aramco (in Calgary) the guys would bring in fantastic food, though I’m sure their wives were up all night cooking it!

I won't eat hummus because the word looks like humans. Soylent green is people. It's people.
