What’s really important to note about that analogy is that Islam is an ideology-a set of beliefs. So, yes, there can be assumptions about common values/ideas because they subscribe to a common ideology. However, white skin is not an ideology. It’s an immutable characteristic.

It’s because people don’t perceive these folks as defending racism against minorities with the same vigor, so they see it as disingenuous. They perceive them as equating Sarah Jeong’s actions to the systemic racism that impacts the lives of minorities on a daily basis.
