      Let me help out here 🙂, I’ll leave Jordan to speak for himself: a) I believe this (hopefully temporary) pivot back to theism vs atheism is unhelpful b) focus must always be on attaining universal secular liberal democratic humanist values

      c) you don’t need religion for those values, though they can accommodate for religion’s existence d) the term ‘judeo-Christian values’ is ahistoric, culturally self-congratulatory & inaccurate e) I do not advocate more religion as a solution, only more secularism

      f) I make no truth claims about Islam g) None of the secular values I espouse require Islam to exist, tho they can cater for any religion h)where Islam is today is very different to where Christianity is. My direction of travel is towards more liberal secularism,not more religion

      i) to get there, I pragmatically believe focus must remain on reforming Muslim-majority societies towards secular liberal values &that focusing on theism vs atheism is a sideshow conversation (feel free to have it) to real struggle of attaining values in real life for real people

      I know your views, Maajid #Solidarity. I think Peterson’s are similar, as it seems he’s also advocating these same values w religion in the backseat. But, like I said...I could be wrong as I can’t say I know his views as confidently as I can say I know yours.

          PS: There’s no pivot to theist vs antitheist (at least not from me). I just heard Peterson w @RubinReport last night in Vancouver and I really liked what he had to say. A lot of it resonated personally. We disagree on the god/religion stuff, but I can still learn a lot from him.

          We can learn a lot from everybody, but this is a false equivalence. JP is trying to revive anachronistic religious ideas that rightfully need to die, while MN is attempting to integrate secular values with Islam.

          Does Peterson even know his own position on Christianity? 🧐 He sure sounds conflicted whenever his personal beliefs on it are challenged.. Which of course is not surprising, because much of religious instruction is contradicting and nonsensical

          Peterson: moral atheists really believe in god because “true” atheists murder and rape. That doesn’t sound like a very universal liberal secular democratic humanist value to me.
