Explicitly acknowledging the bad parts is a critical difference, though. Perhaps Maajid has allies in atheists (& many enemies in religionists) because he lauds secular humanism, which challenges doctrinal authority? This is why I admire him, even though I'm skeptical of reform.

As for Peterson, I recommend watching the discussion between him and Matt Dillahunty to help illustrate how Peterson has a somewhat anemic understanding of secular humanism and atheism in general.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FmH7JUeVQb8 …

I think MN has an intellectual honesty on the subject; mixed with his push towards moderation and secularism appeals to atheists. JP cause he kind of casts a Campbell/Bettelheim fog bluring Christianity with mythology, emphasizing a utilitarianism over a blind worship of God.

Yes. Peterson makes the claim about the primacy of Judeo-Christian values in culture, but is incapable of defining these values with any level of precision. He flexibly defines God as an axiom to stake a claim that most atheists are unconscious theists: https://twitter.com/search?q=from%3Ajordanbpeterson%20%22god%20is%22&src=typd …
