For all those losing their mind over an opinion: It's about as 'bigoted' as saying Biryani tastes bad while Pasta is wonderful (Biryani is the best thing ever :P ). If you 'identify' with Biryani or the Adhan enough to be offended by a contrary opinion you have bigger problems!https://twitter.com/RichardDawkins/status/1018933359978909696 …

Listening to the lovely bells of Winchester, one of our great mediaeval cathedrals. So much nicer than the aggressive-sounding “Allahu Akhbar.” Or is that just my cultural upbringing? pic.twitter.com/TpCkq9EGpw

Allahu Akbar historically was used by Muhammad before waging jihad, and is used by present day jihadists. It's aggressive sounding because it is by any definition. It isn't God is good as people think, it's god is greater, more powerful

Akbar at least from my understanding = greatest. While yes it's used as a war cry it's also used in a hundred mundane situations as well.

It actually means ‘greater’ not greatest. That’s significant because it’s not just passively opining Allah is the greatest (like saying Biryani is the greatest ☺️). It’s actively saying Allah is greatER/better...than any other gods or whatever <insert anything here>

The comparative and superlative in Arabic have the same form. The semantics distinction can be made only when more context is employed. Akbar in Allah Akbar is an example of a semantic ambiguity that can be read as the greater or the greatest as long as more context is needed.

Actually no, you’d add the article ‘the’ (al) to denote the superlative vs the comparative form of the adjective. But I’m not Jordan Peterson, so Im not especially interested in discussions of semantics. I did enough yrs of Arabic grammar that this is borderline triggering 😄
