This is the danger in trusting ppl to tell you your religion-they can say whatever they want. If youre going to devote your life to a religion HOW HARD IS IT TO READ ONE BOOK? If you get through it, and you're still Muslim, you can start reading the Hadith-and that will solve it.

They also do this thing in Pakistan where if a man commits a crime-his sister is raped as punishment. They try to say that's Islam too--no it's not. I have no idea where these practices come from, but it's not from Islam.

In Pakistani Muslim communities, religion and culture have become so intertwined that a lot of people aren't aware of any distinction between the two. Growing up, I'd be told, "Muslims have to eat with our hands, not knives and forks!" and other such foolishness.
