This is probably a perversion of the guideline that if a couple has divorced 3 times the woman has to marry and divorce another man before re-marrying her first husband.
Yes, but not her father-in-law--he's muhram--she cant marry him.

I know, that's why I said perversion. Someone got paid enough to say because of the divorce he wasn't her father-in-law. Pretty sure no one involved in all of this had read the Quran or the other texts in a language they understand and are using others' interpretations of them.

Doesn't divorce cancel any muhrim status? Post-divorce, hence not a father-in-law? I can't marry my wife's sister -- unless I divorce my wife. (Not something I'd want to do, but such weird scenarios come across my TL from Islamic org Q&A accounts)
