So what’s the secret to the #Philippines? Why are ppl from there disproportionately more happy and kind compared to the rest of us?

Given the stories I’ve heard from Filipino folks I know about the Philippines, I’m guessing most are just super happy/grateful to be here in Canada.

I’ve known Filipinos in other countries that are just as joy inducing to be around...but I’ve never been to the Philippines, so, good point! Perhaps it’s just the expats/immigrants that are happy

Another thing I’ve noticed: folks from highly populated regions tend to be more courteous. I guess it’s necessary when living in such cramped conditions. We Canucks can’t fathom the lack of privacy/personal space.

Interesting observation. Though China is one of the most highly populated countries, and I wouldn’t say they’re generally more courteous than average.

That is very true. I’ll admit I’m biased as I’ve mostly only dealt with Filipinos and Japanese. Maybe the key to peace is consistency - whether rude or polite, it’s important for everyone to conform!
