My daughter is 9. Today is her last day of Gr4.
She plays on the monkey bars, rides her bike, swims, dances, plays soccer etc. She is in the peak of enjoying her childhood.
This is the age when #hijab was put on me. I was 9 when my childhood was snatched from me.

Oy. "Raised like veal" is a scary good analogy. That's exactly what it does... I can't even finish the sentence it's so cringeworthingly accurate.

Caged. Unable to move. Once we are of age, we are given away to be used. Our only purpose.

I am Catholic but taught for a year in a Muslim school. I was horrified to see the female students trying to do P.E. with their regular uniform (pants and a shirt), plus the abaye and the hijab at almost 90 degrees F and with a itchy sun over their heads. Faintings were frequent.

The school principal used to tell to the non-midline teachers that girls have to learn about their future by learning how to endure the harshness of life. That would please Allah. I saw that as plain cruelty.
