I’ve noticed that most Arabs leave Islam, but most Pakistanis want to hang on-advocating for reform or ‘cultural Islam’ Why the distinction? Is it because Arabs have a better understanding of Islam? Or is it because Pakistanis have few cultural aspects once you remove Islam?

I’ve noticed this too. Arabs generally seem to know the harsh truths of Islam better because of the language etc maybe? Also south Asian Muslim communities tend to have a more superstitious approach to Islam, it’s all holy and untouchable regardless sort of thing? Just ideas.

I agree about the superstitious stuff for sure. I learned about so many superstitious things from my Pakistani friends in Islamic school —that had zero connection to Islam

I suspected that. But I don’t know enough about Hinduism to see the connection.
