I’ve noticed that most Arabs leave Islam, but most Pakistanis want to hang on-advocating for reform or ‘cultural Islam’ Why the distinction? Is it because Arabs have a better understanding of Islam? Or is it because Pakistanis have few cultural aspects once you remove Islam?

Probably a critical reason - Arabs know what the Islamic texts say in the original message. They get the whole, undiluted message. The 80 % of Muslims not fluent in Arabic rely way more on hearsay and treating the texts as poetry that sounds aurally pleasant.
