I attended a lecture once for this guy, he is a liar and I'm pretty sure he is working towards an agenda which he knows well. Can you imagine that he said Egypt punishes Christians who convert to Muslims?? !!

Perhaps he mistook your joke as a serious claim. Obviously there is sadness and possibly backlash from the dwindling Christian community that yet another has converted to Islam..but the state itself does not punish Christians for converting to Islam. However the opposite is true.
