Yes, Ive heard similar things from ex-Sufi Muslims. They say it can be just as dangerous as mainstream Islam. I guess,like w Shias, they seem less dangerous only because theres less of them and theyre less organized/politically powerful. But I think it’s the lesser of the 2 evils
