The first lab brain tumor paper is out today! . We began the project wanting to understand the role of meningeal lymphatics in brain tumor. To our surprise, when we expanded the lymphatics with VEGF-C, mice could no longer grow tumors!

The brain is equipped with barriers designed to keep out dangerous pathogens, but they also interfere with the immune system when faced with dire threats such glioblastoma. A Nature paper shows a novel way to circumvent the brain's natural defenses.

Happy to see our most recent work published ! This was a great collaboration with where we used scRNAseq to analyze the adipose tissue-resident immune compartment (defined by iv labeling) 🧵 1/

Always treat others (especially younger colleagues and trainees) with respect and kindness. We are all where we are today because someone was kind to us, whether we realize it or not.

When a student sheepishly asks me if she can have a few minutes of my time because she is facing difficulty with her PI, this usually is a sign of significant distress. I know this from experience. If you are in this situation, my DM is open for you. Even if you live far away.

Thanks Akiko for getting the word out about the application requirements. I will add that GREs are not only not required, but they are *not considered*. The admissions committee does not view the scores even if they are sent.
