But he clearly also didn't bother checking very carefully the details. And that's consistent with Corbyn. If you're "on the right side of history", as far as he's concerned, he's not going to bother very much about the details. That's his "anti-Imperialism". >>

I don't think the Tunis memorial merits the scandal it created - especially given that the PLO and Fateh people involved became so clearly identified with the peace process and negotiations with Israel. But other cases were more difficult to stomach, for me. >>

E.g., Corbyn on Press Tv referring as "brother" to Hamas operative Amru, involved in the suicide bombing of Hillel cafe in Jerusalem, September 2003. I could have easily been in that cafe with my family, I often hang out in that part of town when in Jerusalem. >>

Whether Corbyn knew or didn't of the Amru's involvement in the bombing, the details didn't seem to matter to him. (Note: there may be a good case to talk with Hamas: Israel is negotiating with Hamas this right now. But at least know who you're talking with). >>

There are hard questions to ask about Corbyn's "anti-Imperialism", as a candidate for PM: not only his relative sympathy towards militant groups "on the right side of history" such as Hamas and Hizbullah, but also - his very troubling positions on Syria, Assad and Russia. >>>

That's the important questions for me, because people die in Syria, kids die in in Russian bombings, and we don't hear Corbyn. Unlike his strong statements on Yemen and Palestine. Seems to me more urgent to demand answers about current atrocities than about a wreath. /END

That's been a very thoughtful and illuminating read and I only wish we saw a bit more of that quality here.

I support Corbyn for PM, but at this point I could weep tears of joy that someone actually has some informed criticisms instead of knee jerk screeching. These are some interesting points. I think that “anti imperialism” can result in over simplification.

-
I agree. But I also think that the anti imperialist case can be oversimplified by its detractors. The non imperialists are simply denied a voice. When corbyn argues that the peace process needs them to be heard that is not the same as advocating every point that they will make.

Thank you for input , Yair, I wish we had more such reasoned debates in the media, and less sensationalism and bias.

I've have never held the view that
#Corbyn is beyond criticism. But a rational consideration of his past is precluded in an atmosphere of hysteria & smear. A defensive#StandWithCorbyn response is inevitable, this long term is not gd#JC4PM@PeoplesMomentum -
still holds that smears only condemn those mounting an unprincipled attack, they don't give reason for defence of the target

Rather sad I've learned far more details relating to this from a random person on twitter than all UK media. Thanks though, very informative.

We can say - "the control of information makes history". The hysterical reporting on
#WreathLaying by MSM should alarm all reasonable people. Why are they (MSM) so afraid of#Corbyn? Who is manipulating and pulling strings? Mud sticks, first impressions are lasting impressions.Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo
