  2. Even though the home of shipping is in Europe and London. Half the world's people live in the areas coloured yellow, which is in close proximity to the worlds most busiest shopping routes, pollution caused by ships emissions could kill millions. (Via Metrocosm and SEDAC)

Switching to LNG in shipping can deliver local pollution benefits. But as industry increasingly shifts focus beyond to achieving GHG reduction goals by 2050, LNG will face challenges unless shipping can show it is controlling methane leaks

A lot of hype here about the cost of decarbonisation in shipping. China alone is spending $800 billion on . $1 trillion is a drop in the ocean of global transport infrastructure spend.

There is no magic, the shipping industry will slowly follow hybrid solutions in mid/long term. In short term Engines & Operations should be developed more efficient by EEDI & SEEMP and implement a market solution via IMO DCS, EU MRV & EU ETS.

The Poseidon Principle is the first global climate alignment agreement between financial institutions and the shipping industry. By connecting financing to emissions standards, their aim is to cut GHG emissions in shipping by at least 50% by 2050 compared with 2008 levels

News flash for today's : is primarily methane, and methane is a potent climate-disrupting gas. Over a 20-year period, methane traps 86 times more heat than the same amount of carbon. for marine fuel is a climate catastrophe.
